New cam thats going in is essentially the same as the ARH cam, just on "steroids" as he put it.

    230/240 .512/.512 gross lift on a 113 LSA

I have thought about adding 1.8 roller rockers to the mix to get a total lift of .576...but that will wait for now...I want to see how it runs as is.

I will be trying to advance the cam 2-4*

That should be a nice N/A cam , nice choice, good luck with it. Your guides are good for a .600 lift right? I know I had mine done and I think you said you did, just making sure. LOL

ya mine were cleared for .600. Steve, remember when you said you ordered manley valves and they had new stem sizes...did they go from a .310 to a .313, or was it from a .313 to a .310 now?

Because one of my valves that I had to order is from the new batch, and one is from the old batch...and I might see if I can have my buddy touch up the heads instead...since my engine guy isnt going to be back from vacation now until next weekend...I'm gunna be working in the snow at this rate...

They went to stock size .313 now for the Manely Servere duty II series valves which is better since people don't need the valve size redone, but its better to get the bronze valve guides any way, thats what I did, and your right I remember PM'ing you about the lifts and valves. Sounds like your on your way, I hope to get mine in soon for the engine touch up. LOL :burn: Before I finally get this over a year now turbo kit installed.

awesome...I thought it went the other way and I was going to need a new guide made all together.

Are they exactly .313 do you know? my buddy has a .3125 reamer and if the old batches were .310 and the new one is .313 then all that will need to be done is have the guide reamed out. But if they are exactly .313 than his reamer may not work...

also, I wanted bronze valve guides...I remember the shop saying they werent as good for DD driving though as they tend to wear out faster? I cant remember now, and I have no idea what type of guide I ended up using...the shop took care of that for me.

Their the stock size I think final is like .3136, the bronze guides are suppose to last longer and take more abuse. But I'm sure stock ones are fine, I have a set of new stock guides if you need them , i bought a kit awhile back that had new guides, all the freeze plugs , and stock valves. let me know if you need anything.

I just went through this, it is definitely not easier to pull the motor from the top.

it actually wasnt too bad...except for those tranny bolts...my weak arms with a double wrench couldnt crack them...but my buddy didnt seem to have an issue.

we'll see how it goes back in...

have fun with it going back in. i had a hell of a time wrestling it in. the radiator and oil pan had to be removed, which i really didnt think was going to be necessary. i can now remove and replace the oil pan in under 45 minutes since Ive done it so much, so it wasnt all that bad. lol

I know with the Tub. K its like 10 minutes to get the oil pan off ,since theres nothing in the way of the oil pan bolts.

ugh...more bad news...found yet another valve to be bent...this ones bent about 20thou...was originally bent about 23 thou and we were able to bend it back a tad...I dont have a replacement for this valve as we didnt realize it was this bent until today.

I dunno what I should do at this point...I want to get this motor back in the car by this weekend if possible...I have to work outside and they are already beginning to call for snow. My buddy suggested that we lick about 20 thou off of the valve itself (the part that rests up against the seat) and that should fix it so that it seals up nicely. My only concern is that because the valve was a little bent, how weakened could it get/be?

it really wasn't bent that that bad...bad enough that it caused blow-by. Basically if it bent back 10 thou it would be straight again.

No idea how this one got bent either...no evidence that it contacted the piston...only one valve should of smacked a piston and that was accounted for...

I wouldn't take the chance , just order new Mainly valves or I can send you some stock valves or I have some SI valves in stock size.

well the Manleys are all over sized, so stock wont fit...I think what I am going to do is order a manley valve, but in the meantime put the heads back on to degree the cam, then take them back off and put the motor in the car....I'll bolt the one good head down, so I'll just have the one other head to mount up.

That way atleast this weekend I can get all the B.S done with bolting up the tranny/front cover/PS pump, all that crap...get all the ground wires all squared up under the car etc...then when I get that valve its just a matter of bolting the other head on, and putting the intakes in place more or less...

I think thats the best thing I can do...this way Im not risking anything
