Not at the moment...its on the trailor headed to the shop. I'll post back as I know updates...I know its not possible to diagnose over internet, just looking for suggestions...the motor had 4,000km on it....virtually brand new, all fluid levels last night were good....I listened for any knock or noises and nothing...haven't beat on it since checking, just a steady cruise on my way to the States and boom...this happened
Update: no compression on driverside front cylinder...zilch, nothing...needle didn't even flinch....middle cylinder driver side shows 110 and rear most shows 130-140
Now I have no clue as to why I have burnt up a valve....
header was on with 2 bolts....what would damage the piston? knock?...the spark plugs look fine, no damage to them at all...little black, but because I was running slightly rich to stay safe.
But honestly, feel free to shout out any ideas, cause I honestly can't think of anything as to why this would happen....gaskets were all new, everything was torqued to spec...the headers had to be shaved down a bit because the arp headstuds were making contact with the bottom of the header (this is why I didnt have the headers fully on) and its the only strange thing I had...but thats on both sides...and apparently passengerside is fine.
Im not even sure that I will find out why this happened...and thats what scares me the most, because I can fix it, but if I dont know why this happened, there is no reason why it might not happen again...
And how long did you drive it like that? That would burn up an exhaust valve in pretty short order, and probably caused your "phantom" knock you've been looking for. Either way, I really don't think the cause matters at this point, sounds like you're kinda boned.
Not long...maybe 2-3 days...under 160km or under 100miles...the cause does matter because I don't want it to repeat itself...it happened for a reason I need to know why if I'm going to fix it...
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
