  • LS2 swap

Hey guys I know some members have done LS1 swaps on here. Im thinking of dong a LS2 swap instead of selling my car to get a LS1 car. What all is needed to do this swap in our cars? Wil the stock 4l60e work with the v8 engines? I know I will need a harness and ecu. I also know Ill have to get new front springs. I have the hotchkis kit so Ill have to get a hold of them and get a set of front springs. Any help here is appreciated thanx guys.

k member. NEW tranny because of the different bell housing.
THE ONLY way our v6 trannys would work with a v8 is if it was a Pontiac v8.
also you will need a higher output fuel pump and i think thats about it.
a gauge cluster and a few other things.
    =)
good luck fellow v6/v8 camaro owner lol

      Re: LS2 swap

Just sell your car and get an LS1 if you don't want 2.

I thought about doing the swap on my 2001 Firebird W68,I fugured it would cost at least 5g's for the base swap and 7-8g's for a bolt on swap, plus another car to DD.

I got my 1999 TA for 6g's and got about $2000.00 more into it with the brakes, suspension,LT Headers ect.

I just went 13.4 with just a lid.

Plus I still have the V6 as a DD.

Not sure about the LS2 but I believe the essentials to swap should be the same. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So engine, transmission, engine wiring, interior wiring, k member, fueling, new speedo, PCM, and patience.

The small things like springs aren't probably needed. best bet is to get a donor car. I've read so much stuff when I wanted to do it but just dropped the idea and stuck with my car.

        Good luck.

            Re: LS2 swap

Thanx guys!. I found a website that tells you everything for a swap but its for a LS1. Im sure the swap is pretty much identical. Pretty much everything you guys listed is needed plus a few other lil things. Ill have to tally up the cost on it and see fi its still worth it to do that or sell my car like Im tyring to do currently. Ive found a few nice 02 Ws6 with moderat mileage for 12k. So I woluld only have to get a small personal loan to pay the diffference after selling my car which isnt a big deal. I know you cna get them cheaper but Id just rather have an 01 or 02 with moderate mileage that is pretty much stock that I can do what I wnat with it.
