Buying new engine!!!

Hows it going all, I just bought this 2000 chevy camaro and the same day i bought it the motor blew. So now im going to order a rebuilt engine from NAPA and i was wanting to know what that comes with, and what i have to pull from my old engine to install the new one.

I'm not from the states, but isnt that only if you buy new/and or from a dealership? doesnt apply if you buy privately?

yes, you are correct.

and buying an engine from napa is a huge waste of money, i would find a used one at a junkyard

get a low mileage buick engine and swap the accessories over. i got one for 400 bucks with 60k miles on it and it runs like a dream. ive read the buick 3800 is more stout anyway. I work for another parts store (competitor to Napa) all the rebuilt engines by these big chains suck

go grab the cheapest low mileage 3.8 you can, then just swap over your acc.

Um, wow. Sounds like you got bent over, hope you didn't pay too much for the car. Did you buy it private party of from a dealer? There's gotta be some form of protection for something stupid like that...

There is a method of recourse. But he would have to prove the condition was pre-existing and the seller hand first hand knowledge of the issue. Small claims court would be his avenue.

Also, I just saw an engine in the for sale section for like $300ish if my memory serves me.

I got a 4000km 2005 engine from the junkyard for 452$ taxes in...that was a complete motor that I have been able to sell parts off of to...so they are out there...and if I can find one for that cheap here...you can definetly find em for that cheap or cheaper in the states

It went well, cars back on the road. It was about $1757.67 total...but only because I had to switch the cam again, I did the fuel pump unnecceraily, and went to a double roller timing chain.

since the OP might benefit from it heres my breakdown from my excel list I made of parts I may need and the prices and where to get them (I tried to get everything I needed of good quality for the lowest price possible:

Head gasket $36 autozone
double timing chain $99.99 intense
Oil mod/milled cover 54.99 zzp
rocker bolts $20 zzp
Front gasket $11.99 autozone
UIM gasket $11.49 autozone
cam bolt $6.99 intense
crank bolt - $9.99 from intense
flex plate bolts- $19.99 from Intense
valve seals- I didn't need

T-stat O ring- I didn't need
Cam-$275 I bought used off travis
Lifters- I didnt need (had the new 4,000km ones)
cloyes chain double chain-$69.99 jegs
engine- $454.26
oil pan- didn't need
oil pan gasket- didn't need
degree wheel- made one
valves-$150 (replacement manleys cause mine are oversized) intense
mechanic -$205 to fix my dumbass mistake of pinching the cranksensor wires and not being able to find the problem
fuel pump-$250 from racetronix
fluids-$80

I traded a 96 GMC 4x4 for the car, i talked to my lawyer about it and there was nothing i could do, Im going to buy a new engine because i dont want to deal with anything going wrong with a used engine after i buy it. I tore the engine down and my mechnic said that when the old owner built the top end with performance part he should have changed the oil pump to keep up with the new valvetrain. So i want to know if i built up the valve train on this new engine do i need to replace the oil pump with a aftermarket one, and if so were could i find one.

A brand new engine from gm is around 3k. Since I worked at a dealership I got it for $2250 with a 2yr warranty. Mine was a completw engine ready to drop in.

Ive been running on the stock oil pump...I dont think its a necessity...there are oilling mods that you can do however...

Well i talked to my dad today and he thinks i should buy a short block and build it up my self, im thinking about getting abbott stage 2 heads ported intake, and then a ARH NA cam from abbott, and yella terra roller rocker arms and rods. Im still unsure of a good lifter i have heard some good and some bad comments on the comp cam lifters. So if anyone has some input that would be great. And i was told i would need a hight stall TQ converter, i dont know whitch kind to buy so any input on that? Thanks for the info guys!!!
