    Re: Buying new engine!!!

I believe we can use Ls7 lifters and I think those were determined to be better. Don't get the OE-R lifters...1) they are noisier, 2) the tolerances are much more tighter, I think you have like 0.010-0.020 of play...where as on the OE lifters you still have the 0.050 of play which is much more forgiving when you do your setup.

I don't know about the yella terra rockers either...I think warstrike used those (but don't quote me) and he couldn't fit them under the stock valve covers....higher valve covers cost about 300$...

Here, you want the website where I found my 4,000 km engine? It allows you to search all the junkyards everywhere in Canada and the U.S for any part

    http://www.car-part.com/

search texas and see what you find. Quick search in your area under a 2005 buick lesabre (which is still a 3.8 series II, and what I used) I found a 35,000mile boneville for $750...Im sure you can find better though...even if you have to travel a state...

If you wanna do a huge build now, just toss a junkyard engine in it to get it driveable while you're accumulating all these parts. Unless you have another car to drive.

I believe the LS7 lifters are the same part as the ones we use in the L36 :)

I've got them installed on my engine, brand new take-offs from a never run crate engine from SDPC.

And birdofprey is right. Look at my build thread just below and check out my "Lessons learned" post.

I got COMP OER-S in mine right now and they are noisy , I'm going with Comp OE ones this next time around. I wish I knew about the LS7 ones before I bought the Comp OE's.
