I am upgrading my stock cam to the GT2 cam with 105# springs/retainers and upgraded pushrods (stock length). Motor is being fully rebuilt (everything new) and bored .30 over. Will the car run with the GT2 Cam without having the computer reprogrammed and tuned? Or do I have to have it reprogrammed before I am able to run and drive the car?

Re: GT2 Cam question
Straight from ZZ's site:
This cam was designed for naturally aspirated applications where maximizing the performance of stock heads is important. It will set the P0300 code unless programmed out of the PCM. Idle is lumpy, especially with headers. Raised shift points (6500), raised rev limiter (7k), and gears/converter are all recommended.
You wont have to tune it immediately to drive it, but you should do a case relearn fairly soon after startup.

Re: GT2 Cam question
I wouldn't run the car WOT (wide open throttle) without a tune, but it's prolly just my paranoia. There have been several guys here that didnt tune for a gt2 at all with no problem. You just never know how a particular car will react to a more significant mod like a cam.sigpic
