  • How much should I expect to pay for an L26 swap? Shop performing all the labor...

I blew a headgasket on my motor and my car currently wont even crank. If a shop does all the work, how much can I expect to pay to have a running car again? I need the price including everything.... I found a FWD motor for $250.00, but its not a direct swap...what all is necessary to do this and the parts including every last gasket... is it worth it? and how much in everything (including motor price) should I be prepared to pay?

My guess is about 15 hour book time or more and at about $100 an hour at most decent shops $1500. That would be a high guess you could say , just call around and ask how much they charge an hour and how much a engine swap would be with minor swaps from the old engine would be.
