Noted from this thread here - http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread.php?t=102887 - I blew my engine...or atleast I believe pretty strongly...
It has close to 150k on the clock. I got off the interstate and noticed white smoke steaming from the hood, then I saw it steaming out the exhaust... I was forced to drive it instead of towing and the temps pegged for a good 10 minutes and by the time I got it parked it barely had any power left...
Well
I went to crank it just to see if it would at least run... First off, the battery was dead and I had to jump start it. Second... Here's what would happen... The ignition would turn and it would try to crank...most of the times it wouldnt crank...but on the occasions it did, it would idle VERY rough for about 3 seconds, and then die... Then if you pressed the gas pedal to deliver fuel to the engine to keep it alive, it would just die instantly...
Does this sound like a blown headgasket to you? and MUCH MORE importantly..does it sound like additional damage was done? I.E. Hydrolock, bearings, bent / broken rods - ect...
What would you do, risk $800 and replace the gasket and get it rolling again if it works but if it doesn't pay $2,000 on top of that for an overhaul? Or pay $1,500 upfront for another engine installed?
