  • FINALLY! My build is underway!

So after 2 years of debating on which route I wanted to go, I am finally underway on my build.

    Info on build:
Donor L67 from a GTP with around 80,xxx miles that I got for crazy cheap
L67 bottom end with my L36 top end
    XP Hot cam
    105# springs
    Single roller chain
    Heads will be P&P'd
    Pacesetters
    Aluminum DS
and to top it off a Powerdyne kit (thanks again Robby!)

The car also has 3:42's and an Auburn posi installed.

    So a few questions.
Can I run the rockers from the L67 in the L36 Heads? (L67 only has 80,xxx miles)
What size injectors should I run? I was thinking some from an GTP.

    Inputs welcome!

Since we dont have a cherry picker yet, we used our backhoe to hoist it onto the stand lol.

Re: FINALLY! My build is underway!

Sadly, not really :(. Ive been working alot more. So Im just going to be working on the motor little by little over winter and drop the motor in next spring. Its just more realistic and that way I can put more money and parts into it (Like pistons, rockers, and a bigger cam, ect, ect) But I have the trans out and at a local shop, hopefully Ill have it back and in the car in about a week. Im planning on putting the PD on the motor thats in the car now when I do get the trans back.

Re: FINALLY! My build is underway!

you're gonna wanna go with bigger injectors. More along the lines of 42s or 65s even.

oh and a drag radial to get that power down lol

Re: FINALLY! My build is underway!

If your using the PD with a cam then GTP 33lbers will do you fine but if your going to add more then 42.5 will do. Or even 65lbers will do since they cost about the same as 42lbers.

Re: FINALLY! My build is underway!

Yeah, Im defiantly going bigger injectors, I want to get the full potential out of this PD set up. I do plan on getting some drag radials and mounting them on my snowflakes for the track lol.

Steve, will the stock injectors be ok for running my PD on the stock motor thats in the car now? Ill be running the stock pully. Someone may have answered this for me already but I cant remember.

Re: FINALLY! My build is underway!

Only way to run stock injectors is to use the FMU, since its a stock pulley you should be fine for awhile. You will have to retard your timing either through a TRC-1 or HPTuners. I ran a FMU at 8lbs and dynoed 288wrhp and 310 TQ, after I added GTP injectors, smaller pulley and better weather my Tq jump to 330 TQ, This was with the VS cam installed

Re: FINALLY! My build is underway!

Well fellas, Im back on track for the build. Long story short the build came to a stop due to my insurance not paying some medical bills and not informing me until collections did :(. But right now my transmission is being rebuilt by the awesome guys at Colorado Performance Unlimited. When the trans is done I will be dropping the block off to them to be cleaned and have new bearings and piston rings put in. I still need to buy some parts but I have my income tax money so Ive been ordering a few things here and there. Progress is still not going to be fast but Its moving along now. Im trying to get the engine done in a month and a half, maybe less maybe more, but we will see. Ill update as things come along. Im just happy to be back on track now
