  • deciding on lifters..

so ive been looking into lifters. i was pretty set on the comp cams OE-R, but after readin recent threads im staying far from those. Ive now read that stock LS7 lifters are a good choice? i have stock rockers, stock length pushrods (new, ordered from rockauto.) and a GT2 cam. will the LS7 stockers be a good choice for my app? i was thinking about reusing my stockers because their in great shape, but with the motor im building having 120,000 on it when i tore it down id like to replace them.

I've been running OER's for about 70,000 miles, so far they have been great. The install needs to be perfect on them though.

I've not read/heard any legit info about COMP's lifters being problematic.

My experience sure shows they work well. I've got about 40K miles on the set which came with my COMP cam and...I've running Katech valve springs which have more spring pressure (130 vs 125 on the seat and 340 vs 320 over the nose). I've had no lifter problems.

That said, the GM LS7 valve lifter is a good piece, too.

thanks for the info. so the lifter that i posted above is a direct replacement and doesnt need anything special done to install them?

i appreciate the info guys. I just want this done right and ive never shimmed rockers and dont plan on doing it with this engine or paying someone to do it. Ive built this entire engine from honing the cylinders to torqueing every nut and bolt. It was a project that i always wanted to do, and this site has helped me out a great deal. Thanks again!

I have some new Comp OE's brand new for sale if your interested in them. I didn't use them on my rebuild , I left the Comp OER's in since I haven't had a problem with them.
