  • ceramic coated pistons diy?

did a little search did not find much but has anyone coated therit own pistons if so how hard was it? I dont think it would be that hard to do and was thinking i might try it when i break my engine down for rebuild just not sure what all i would need or if it would be cheaper to just send them to a coating shop to do it. i called one local place and they said $20ea. to coat the top of the piston and another $20 to do the skirts so $40 total each piston. do the skirts really need coated too i think just the top would be go enough for reasonable price. what do you all think?

    thanks

    p.s i have a 99 camaro 3.8L A4 with nitrous and soon (hopefully) supercharger.

um no! you mess the weight or thickness up, bye bye engine. Get it done right by someone that will back their work.

Think about what will happen in the combustion chamber and valves if flakes start to come loose.
