  • For a cam..

So I have a couple parts to my question. Part one: are there any cams out there for our v6s that cause quite a bit of lope? I love the sound but all of the ones I have found on comp cams and everywhere only have smooth idle. Part two: will this cam need major modifications (the springs lifters injectors)?

    Thanks

    Re: For a cam..

GT and GT2 cams will have a lobe to them, my VS cam has a small lobe to it , most cams I would do at least 105lb spings and some pushrods, stay away from light weight pushrods, they seem to bend easy.

Yeah the gt cams and the arh cam would have a nice lope to them.

Okay springs and rods for cam and that's it? And look for GT/GT2/ARH?

          Re: For a cam..

timing chain is usually a good idea when you're down there. and you're going to have to reseal everything that you are pulling apart
          Wait, Is that a V6 or V8?

            Re: For a cam..

I've got a GT2 cam with rods, timing chain and upgraded springs sitting on my desk about 2 feet from me, waiting to go in lol.

Don't forget a tune! GT1 and GT2 cams are popular. Listen to Grand Prix videos on youtube for sound.

Is it the GT1/2 for the LS1 applications? That's all I could find. And if so, it said that for automatics it recommends a loose TC is this correct?

This is what you can expect from a GT2, in a 3.8 car.

                    Re: For a cam..

Call abbott racing heads. They can custom spec a cam. They can tweak their n/a cam to give a little more lope im sure.

                      Re: For a cam..

^Abbott will net you some serious lope and also the best gains NA.

The Intense S1X NA cam that I run is lopey when I have the cutout open but nothing earth shattering compared to the Abbott because of the cam timing.

It will more than likely need a good tune to make the best use of the install.

I just found a good deal from one of the users here that I think I will take advantage of with a GT2. I appreciate all of the help.
