He spent a lot less than 50k. You can get a 3800 into the low 10's high 9's reliably for around 15k.

I keep seeing people say headers, but how much gain are you really going to get from headers vs the factory tubulars?

I would think headers would flow alot better than stock, esp. the primaries compared to stock.

Having a 2000 like me, he has the factory tubular style manifolds, which are essentially blockhugger sytle headers from the factory, now I don't imagine GM went all out on flowtesting and Pacesetters or something probably have larger primaries, I just don't see how they could be THAT big a difference

You need to think of it as in package. Headers would make your mods, especially SC, work even better.

It's like K&N filter vs. Paper Filter. There's really not much of a difference in HP gain, but synergistically in relation to your other mods it's crucial.

That depends on track condition too as well as weather and condition of his car. Times will always vary at the track. That's why you have to look at dyno #'s, but even that can fluctuate too.

From what I understand these guys make essentially the defacto heads for our cars: http://www.abbottracingheads.com/

well he got rid of the car now. im just gonna go with some headers . a cam and maybe a 75shot. with some 3.73.s im getting a new read end . and maybe a stall ill see where that puts me at. if i dont like it then ill just drop an ls1
