Since you don't have the car anymore I would just let it go. Just post your comments on whatever websites they are sponsors on, so people are warned not to do business with them. Thats about what I've done in the past.

Well - in conclusion, I got what I wanted anyway. I settled for a 1999 Hugger Orange Camaro Z28. (I wanted a 2010 Camaro SS but I'm just not ready for car payments right now) It does need a bit of work but its nothing serious. Paid $6k for it and it has about 160k miles - runs and shifts strong. Im going to drive it as is for a year, buy another daily beater, then go LQ9 long block in her and possibly convert to a 6 Speed.
She picks up quite quickly, Im beggining to doubt it has the sluggish 2.73's but how can I be sure?
You could have someone with Hptuners pull up the tune in it and see what the gear ratio is.

not to dig an old thread but if its a 1999 auto probably a 3.23 rear. also when crusing on the highway look to see what rpm vs speed you are at
auto with a 3.23 will be at 69mph @2k rpm ( od ratio is 0.70)
5spd with 3.42 will be at 65mph @2k rpm (od ratio is 0.72)
6spd with 3.42 will be 68mph @ 1500rpm (od ratio is 0.50)
note 5th gear for both manual transmissions are the same ratio
any other combo you can play with this calculator to find your gears. stock 16 inch tires are 26.1in diamater others can be calculated here
I highly recommend that you DON'T DO THIS SWAP UNLESS your car is absolutely valueless to you.
The simple fact of the cost difference between DIY with salvaged truck engine / 4L60E versus a genuine LS1 4th gen, right from GM, is reason enough all by itself to do this swap myself. My car was $700, with the correct steering rack. My '01 4.8L LR4 V8 was $300. '97 C2500 5.0L van-sourced 4L60E was $75 with a '99 S-Blazer L35 torque converter. Wiring harness turned out to be under $15 with the heat shrink wrap and solder. PCM was $25, reprogramming was $85. '00-'02 Z28 exhaust manifolds were $25 ea. I'll be in less than half the cost of finding a '98-'02 Z28 / Formula / TA. Very worth it, pays for turbo, injectors, dyno tune, axle upgrade, wide wheels and tires, brake upgrade, and a steak dinner for two. More speed, more MPG, more gloating.
I think the biggest thing any of us have learned from this project is that being able to do most of (if not all) the work yourself is absolutely crucial to the reasoning behind a v8 swap. Unfortunately for the OP, he ended up with a few bad deals between the tranny and the shop he took the car to. Like any project, proper research and good sourcing for parts are key to doing this.
Gotta get my 4.8L running in my '86 Camaro, or my '87 S-10, then once it's road-worthy and inspected, swap that for a '96-'00 Vortec 7400 if in my '86 Camaro, I have a second 4.8 on my engine stand. Enough threadjacking, I'll start my own thread when I start the lowest-budget 4.8 / '94 swap.
I'm already sick of my 3.4 never running on all 6 above 1/2 throttle.
For what its worth. I have replaced my losses with a 99 Camaro Z28 and a 2015 Camaro V6. The Firebird from this project now belongs to another owner who donated a 5.3L aluminum motor and did heads / cam to it. I'd sure hate to meet it on the street now.
