  • 3.4L flooding out

    Hi everyone,
I have a 94 3.4L camaro and recently it has started flooding itself out. It runs fine and doesnt miss a lick when you drive it or put your foot in it, ha prob because its getting so much fuel haha, but when you go to stop and a stop light or stop sign, whatever, go to stop the car completely at all, it floods itself and dies. When I start it back up I have to give the foot feed a couple pumps to clean itself out of all the extra fuel but if I clean it out with the throttle before I completely stop it will idle all day long. I pulled the plugs and wow were they fouled, so I replaced them but I dont know what is causing the car to flood itself and foul the plugs...anyone have any suggestions or ideas, becaue I dont :)

    Thanks and take care,
    Thorttle_out94

Sounds like you need some new injectors.

Check your fuel pressure regulator out for internal leaks. It's mounted on top of the fuel rail. Pull the vacuum line off and apply vacuum to the line if you see any fuel in the line the diaphragm is probably split. If that checks out you may have a bad fuel injector dumping fuel.

well, i have replaced the injectors and the fuel pressure regulator and nothing...I also put a new tps on it and a new map sensor. Thinking it might be the egr valve or the computer now..Idk..haha. Tired of spending money with now results
Thanks for the help guys, the car needed new injectors and fuel pressure regulator anyway

i would say definitely not the egr....

record what kinda fuel psi your getting @ idle and on drive

check to see if you have strong spark

test the iac (idle air control) motor thats on the left side of the throttle body held down by 2 torx screws

is there any codes?? if everything is fine after testing then i would say ecu which is pretty cheap on ebay and stuff...got mine for $20 also its better to test than throw parts @ it and waste $$ and time...

there aren't any codes, I have good spark, Im getting 40lbs out of the fuel pump. Maybe a crankshaft sensor?? The car isnt runnin rich anymore so that problem is fixed but now it wont idle consistently. You can start the car and it might sit and purr like a kitten for 20 mins and then up and die. The next time it might idle really high or really low. The car has no consistentcy like I said before. But one positive is it doesnt smell like pure fuel out of the exhaust anymore.

Again, thanks for the help everyone.

You could have a bad map sensor. I had a problem with stalling once and replaced it and it cured the problem.
