Yep I took it off yesterday. I tried the impact wrench so I wouldn't have to mess with the back of the engine, didn't work. Then I put two layers of PB Blaster and it still didn't work. Then I got a crow bar shoved it in the crank pulley and wedged another in between that and the engine. And then I got a breaker bar with a tube on the end of it and got it. Ha.

Just did some more work on it at noon, I got the lower intake manifold off and moved the whole wiring harness out of the way. Took off the drivers side valve cover and then unscrewed all of pass side bolts on VC except the one with that bracket. So took a break to go pick the girlfriend up. Also took off the water pump.

When I get home ill give another shot at taking the bracket and valve cover off...

            I can tell. Haha.

Any tips on removal? Head size of bolt? Tackle it from top or bottom? Ratchet or wrench? Etc.

I finally got it off after an hour of fighting and exhausting all of.my options, tried probably a good 15 ways and finally I held a wrench from the bottom and a buddy took a pole and wedged it inside of header tubes and jammed it and loosened it up.

Just closed up the garage... I have both valve covers off now along with rods and rockers. Just took off the timing chain cover.

Tomorrow I think will be cam removal if it isn't too difficult before I have work and then change springs.

                        Re: GT2 cam on sunday

Springs will be harder than the cam install. Their just time consuming.

Hm. I figured the gears would be a b**** to get off. Any tips on doing springs? Or process to do it?

Use air compressor to pressurize the cyl. and change the springs one at a time, this is why its time consuming but works very well.

Okay two things. The first - do I do it before or after the cam change? And two - should I rent one of the things from Autozone for it?

Doesn't matter before or after , you'll need the spring tool to compress them to get the locks off , then compress the new ones to get them back on. I have the tool if you need it.
