    Re: Got a little problem

Tomorrow I'm gonna drain the oil and try to get that piece out. I just looked through a few threads about pulling the pan. Oh my god that's not gonna be fun. I really hope I can get it out without having to do all that. Good thing I've got plenty of beer at the house.

      Re: Got a little problem

I've been pretty busy lately but I drained the oil today (its been in the garage since it happened), and tried the magnet idea through the oil sensor with no luck. I bought an oil pan gasket earlier so I'm gonna support the motor with jackstands on the motor mounts and drop the k member in the morning. Is there enough wiggle room in the brake lines and power steering lines to drop the k a few inches without unhooking them? That would make the process a little easier.

I decided to do it the way all the other threads suggested. I have to pull my air conditioning compressor off though. When I swapped the l26 in, I put the motor mount bolts in from the front of the motor. so now the bolt hits the back of the compressor.

I have the pan unbolted right now, but I can't lift the motor high enough to really pull it out. Its binding on something and it wants to lift the whole car off the jackstands. I also have the pickup unbolted but I can't pull it off. Theres only 2 bolts that hold it on right?

Also, the back of the pan is hitting the tranny. I used a tranny jack and lifted it as high as I can but the pan still hits.

You are experiencing the law of unintended consequences: " I thought I could fix this and save money but now everything is screwed up and I can't drive the car this way, I guess not using a mechanic did not really save me any money"

                Re: Got a little problem

I actually finished it last night. I ended up dropping the k member anyway and everything went smooth. While I was bolting my ac back up I accidentaly hit my oil pressure sensor and it broke, so I bought a new one today and put it on. Now my oil pressure reads just below 120, but ill look up how to fix that in a few minutes.
