        Ive been reading somethings. Can I use an obd2 scanner to pull the codes?? I'm reading stuff about needing an obd1 reader with some kind of adapter I mean.....really

          OBD2 only work for OBD2 cars. You can get a OBD1 at just about any car parts real cheap or you can insert a paper clip in there to make that SES light to start flashing codes. I would just buy the cheap scanner though just to be safe.

          What you're looking for are flashes that the SES will give out. Such as 1 flash followed by 2 quick flashes. This would mean code 12, which would mean your ECM is fully functional. If there is a bad code, after that 12 there will be a follow up flashes that will give you the problem. It will flash that same code 3x's.

          As for the EGR and tube. I think for the 3.4 it's located at the passenger side close to the exhaust manifold. The EGR tube is connected to that. Press under that EGR valve to depress that diaphram while your car is idling and see if it will cause your car to want to stall. If it does then that's a good thing, if not then EGR is not the problem to your high idle.
