I don't know where you guys put your build threads around here, so feel free to move this to where you need mods (and delete this comment as well).

This will be build #3 since April on this car. Long story short, ****ed up the first build. Got it back together again a month later and the repercussions of the original build cause the engine to blow up the second time around.

The full story can be found here- http://www.camarozone.com/forum/f16/...y-bird-177228/

I thought I'f finally grace this forum with the drama lol

So welcome to my build thread attempt #3

Welcoming home my newest/ 2nd L26. It has 42,000 miles on it, paid $600 plus $150 shipping on ebay.

After removing one of the dog bone mount brackets, discovered the wreck it was in cracked on of the heads where it was mounted. After informing the seller they offered a refund in return of the engine, or they would take $300 off of it and I keep it. I decided to keep it and not deal with the hassle of getting the parts together and shipping it back.

I ordered a set of new exhaust valves from rock auto for my last L26 heads, since they all have bent exhaust valves from the catastrophic engine failure. I will then take them to the machine shop to have match seated to the heads and have them look them over to make sure they are still good. Those heads and the last L26 had 56,000 miles on them.

    Heres the parts pile:

    ZZP GT2 cam
    Comp Hi-Tech push rods
    Comp OE lifters
    Comp rocker bolts
    ARP head studs
    S-10 2.2 torque converter
    B&M Trans Cooler 70264
    BadLanz Electric Dump
    HighFlow Fuels Systems fuel pump
All new gaskets to re-seal the engine
New GM crank bolt, cam bolt and flexplate bolts
Will be deleting the balance shaft again
    New timing set and dampner
    NGK TR55 plugs
    Motor mounts

Will be re-using the Comp 105# springs and Manley steel retainers.

The originial build I also replaced:
    All new OE Delphi injectors
    Fuel pressure regulator
    Fuel filter

Stuck on getting the lower intake off, I have all the bolts removed and it wont budge. I think im gonna try unbolting the heads and see if I can get it off that way.

I'll be keeping an eye on this...I have future plans (hopefully sooner rather than later as I'm already collecting parts too) of doing a nice build as well. Good luck to you, third time's the charm!

This should be put in the Advance Section instead of here so we can follow your build.

Good luck to you. You only get better on the 3rd try.

Just dropped the heads and new valves off at the machine shop, felt froggy and decided to let them do some pocket porting on them.
