Re: What's the biggest 3800 build out there?

My intentions are a mild heads/cam setup this spring after I get my tax return, then this summer I'll buy a 2nd engine to build on the side from the ground up. Letzride, I've read your posts about all the small things about windage trays and the like and that's all stuff that I'm wanting to fabricate and incorporate into my build.

If you want my opinion dont do things twice... It doesnt take long to build up the motor, dont spend money twice. Get a fresh motor from the scrap yard with low mileage, disassemble the block, do the necessary oiling mods, forget the mild heads/cam.. Buy the potent setup u want, install the motor, install the parts when you put the motor in. Doing a mild heads cam setup and building a motor on the side isnt going to save you any time, but it will cost you additional money.

Just my .02 if I had to redo how I did things thats what I would do

There's a couple who had it done, esp. in Aussie.

But the problem with members here who had it done is that they tend to go the V8 route in the end.

Quite possibly the biggest here stateside before it got parted out was Patrick/Linxs on Fullthrottlev6. He was one who helped out with setting up the Longtubes as he did a lot of stuff with Tiago from Force Fed Fabs.

He did around 600whp on the dyno, and then was in the process of upping the boost but needed the fuel, a whole lot of it. I think Usd2Sing said the injectors on that car were like a small equivalent to a fire hose with how much they could pump out. Kinda hard to tune for idle and little city driving. Patrick was shooting for 1000whp, and just tore it all apart and sent the pieces out to the ones with the cash.

He's building a Factory 5 GTM, not sure how far along he is with it though.
