  • Need some help!

Ok here is whats up, I got me a new project that im planning on a complete rebuild inside and outside of the car, its a 95 camaro with the 3.8 and i bought her in bad shape with the intent of it having a blown motor, not long after having the car and looking into the motor i find out it has a blown head gasket, the cylinder was filling with water and keeping it from turning over, so long story short, i get the car to start up with starting fluid (car has bad gas so i unplugged the fuel pump) and new plugs, after i get all that done, she fires right up, running on 5cylinders because of the blown head gasket, all the sudden this large gush of motor oil and coolant comes gushing out of the throttle body and she chokes to death on her own fluids, at least a full quart of oil and fluids came out in the time it took me to see it start and go shut the key off, when the car was running i had the spark plug out of the car on the bad cylinder, obviously every time that cylinder had a stroke it shot out water, NEVER ANY OIL, so i decide to try the car with the plug back in and like usual, the car had too much fluid in the cylinder to turn over, only this time it was oil instead of water in the cylinder, now yes i know all about what a head gasket can do as far as water and oil in the cylinder, but ive never seen oil come shooting out of the throttle body, and honestly nobody ive talked to has either, so aside of a head gasket what are your thoughts, or do you think its just a really fugged up gasket?

now that you have read this horor story ill show you my project, she isnt beautiful, but she has alot of potential, a good body other than needing a hood and front bumper cover, she has t-tops, power everything, bose, the whole nine yards, just needs some love and the interior needs a deep cleaning, about to start the body work as well on the car and get her ready for new paint

The only you can get the answer you want is too really tear down that engine and see if there's more to it than just head gasket.

I helped somebody who thought it was just a gasket it turned up to be a hairline crack on the block.

and this i do know, i havent had the time to tear it down yet, and a salvage yard motor is only $300 nearby and they are all around 100k motors, so im trying to decide if its worth my time to even look at my motor vs just go get another and rebuild it on the stand
