Ya, I know this is a firebirdv6 message board but I can't find anything on if you can just use any computer with any car. I mean we got a 94 Trans Am and it has no motor and no trans and I would like to know if I was to go out and buy another motor and trans could I use the computer and wiring harness that comes with that motor? Or would I have to get a 94 motor with a 94 wiring harness and computer? I hope I explained that where someone could understand it. If someone could help me out that would be great. Thanks

Will everything just plug into each other and be fine? Will I be able to use the same keys and stuff or will it do the sercurity code thing and lock up the fuel pump and injectors? There are changes all through the years. Most are in form of the power up feeds to the PCM... If I were you I would just get a 94 motor, wireing harnes and PCM and be done with it. I had to get a 97 motor running in a 95 car with a 97 harnnes. IT WAS NOT FUN.1996 Silver camaro Z28. Well I don't know if i said this or not but the wiring harrness and PCM is all taken out. All that is left is the body and inside. Thats it. Most likely will just use the car for parts and call it out.
