  • Hypertech Issues

Ok, So.. I was gunna "untune" my car today.. or atleast knock it down to the lower octain rating.. because i have been running real rich since the header install..

anyway, so I hook it all up.. and i get initialization, flash memory corruption.. and "code 6" errors..

    :(

I have emailed hypertech about this howeveri dont think they will get back to me till tommarow..

The motor is also having hesiation issues in the upper RPM's in first and scond great expecialy.. i think this could be a result of running rich..

Anyone have similar issues?? what did you do about it?? how did hypertech fix it??

and a special one for keith.. when will the 2000 v6 software be ready? And will it be able to remove the hypertech tune?

    :( crappy day..

Worst case scenario, if Hypertech's product cannot remove its tune from your PCM, try and get Hypertech to pay for your PCM to be reflashed. Reflashing may just be the only way if their unit is screwed. A GM dealer can do it for you, and can cost anywhere from nothing to $100 or so.

yup.. that may be what has to happen..

hmmm.. well i managed to get the tune off..

atleast i think i did.. and the tuner thinks so also..

hrupf.. it had some issues unlaoding the tune.. however when i restated the hypertech it continued to unload it.. and everything seems ok..

i checked my autotap and i had the code..

        "
        u1040
        loss of ebtcm serial data"

dont really know what thats all about but i cleard it and everthing seems fine..

anyone know of a way to log somthing in autotap that is a tell tale sign of it stil having the hypertech tune on it??

i kinda wanna make sure the tune came off all the way..

hmm.. still unsure about that error code.. ohh well.. if anyone has any insight that would be cool *cough* keith *cough* (when you get the time)

man.. the car is not running so great on the stock tune.. a little bit jerky.. and some mild hesitation.. i really need tuning..

however i am pretty dam sure the stock tune is back on there.. i can tell because my frigging Heat is acctualy warm.. unlike before where it was like having outside air blow on you..

if anyone knows some autotap paramaters to check that would be cool though!
          :D

and keith.. WTF are you doing wasting your time reading this post!! get back to finishing the 2000 v6 tuner.. I neeeeeeeeeed it like a junkie needs heroin..

              AllTheGoodNamesAreGone-

Hey man guess what just happend today?? Yup you guessed it my computer "died" in the process of detuning my car. More precisely I "thought" i detuned HPP from it yesterday and just to make sure all the tuning was off I tried to detune it again today and I got the lost connection error and when i connected it back up nothing nothing nothing. It said communicating with vehicle for about 45 mins before it shut off. This happend 3 times before i finally quit. Then i called hypertech and they said they'd reflash my computer for free, ofcourse you pay shipping. I'm just going to take my computer to the dealership to get it reflashed, even if it does cost 100 dollars. And also hypertech is reflashing my programmer. I guess a tip for hypertech owners, once you detune your car do not try to detune it again just to make sure you detuned it in the first place. Thats my story hope it helps.

Question: when i take my car in to get the computer reflashed at the dealership is there anything i should put back in my car to not void my 5 year extended warranty?

rofl.. i dont know about your warenty.. however.. try to make it look as stock as possible..

yeah i dont know WTF is wrong with my hypertech..

i fixed my misfiering issue.. then loaded it back up and it worked fine..

hopefully!! keith will get the tuning software done soon.. i am realllly huring for it now..

my car is running so ruch its burning up cats left and right.. so.. i am gunna hook up a test pipe for the time beaing.. then when i can turn it i will lean it out and hook up the cat again..

umm.. yeah I eventualy got the tune to some off.. but wow was it a PITA.. and i emailed hypertech.. and they never responded.. not to impressed with that..

before you get the computer reflased.. pull the fuse and disconnect the batt.. for like.. 30 mins or so.. then hook it back up.. see if that dosent resolve your issue.. it worked for me when i was working on an ls1 once..

Your talking about the PCM fuse under the hood?
