• Injector, Tuning, and Cam help needed!

I'm sure this has been asked, and I know everyone is tired of the cam questions but I would really appreciate some help. That being said, he we go:

I'm planning on getting the Comp Cam GT cam from ZZPerformance. Specs on it are 210/210 112 LS. I also plan on getting 105 pound valve springs and the ZZP valve spring retainers.

What possible issues or problems may arise from this plan? I shouldn't get an SES Light. Will I be in dire need of tuning? Will I need bigger injectors (ex. stock lt1 24 lbs. injectors)? If I get Ported and Polished Intakes later, will I need bigger injectors then if I don't get them now? Is there any other mods you guys would recommend that would help my setup?

Also, how hard will the install be? And what would be a rough estimate for a professional install?

Thanks a ton guys for your help in advance.

You shouldnt need any tuning or bigger injectors even with the ported intakes, although the tuning may help its probably not neccessary, but it would make a difference. I was quoted $400 for a cam install.
Maybe Magnus's program will help you out if you have a 98-02, just a thought. <----Just read you have a '96, disregard

you can also look here for cams too

www.3800performance.com
and
www.ammperformance.com

even my large cam (see my site) has been tested to only through SES light if you let the car idle to long

about the injectors the only way you really need bigger injectors is if you

1. bore out the motor ALOT

2. get alot more air into the motor 1.e. turbo or SC

p/p your intake only lets the air flow better, you do get a little more in but the MAF reads this and the PCM adds in the extra fuel. however if you do have a high milage car i would at least clean the injectors, or if you feel you would rather buy new, buy like 2 lb/hour over the stock injectors

i wouldn't waste your money on th zzp retainers unless you get a huge cam.

head p/p would really help out the cam, an would complment your intake p/p also if you put a power adder on you will be set to go

if you dont have them already
cold air intake with K&N and free flowing exuast
with the cam, heads, intake p/p, cold air and exuast you should see gains of 30-60 HP

i would get the cam done bye someone hows knows what there doing.

At stock fuel pressure your injectors can suport 211 hp @ 80% duty cycle.
If (key work being IF) they can be pushed to 100% duty cycle (not a great idea) they can suport 264hp while at stock fuel pressure.
You will need more fuel pressure for now so find a fuel pressure reg.

Viper: I have all the basic mods (see sig). And I plan on getting the retainers just to be safe, since my enine is approaching 93k miles.

What is the stock injectors rated at (lbs.)? Would I be better off getting new injectors or a fuel pressure regulator? I can honestly say I don't much about about the fuel pres. reg., will someone please clue me in. Also where could I get one?

umm 93 K are you goign to turbo SC one day??? or you just want some good gains? at that milage i would do new piston rings and bearings. that will give you a full rebiuld and it will be like having 0 miles again (on the motor at least) i mean you almost there with the cam its not to much more to do the rest, look at it this way if you do cam, and then rings go you will be paying for some of the same stuff 2 times.

stock injectors are 22 lb/hour, you can get LT1 (24 lb/hour) really cheap for 6 new ones

First of all, I recommend that you do a search. Alot of these questions have been asked eleventy billion times.

With out tuning, my car put down 218hp to the wheels with a 212/212 112lsa cam. This was a nearly 50rwhp gain from stock by adding a cam and headers.

Bird_Of_Prey was that seriously just from cam and headers, or does that include exhuast, cold air, and new manifolds?
