• What Should i do to make some big HP #s

First off i have a 3.4l motor. I am only a student so i have a limited budget. should i save up for a turbo (ex. tiago's) or should i rebuild my motor with a big cam and bolt ons. I want to get some big #s, but i can't just build an engine from the ground up. Also, it is my daily driver and i want to run pump gas.

Just a heads up..This will get moved to a different forum,,or just locked.

If you're looking to produce big HP #'s from your current 3.4 ...Forced induction is going to be your best bet..along with Nitrous. But then you have to start dealing with internals..aftermaket cam..and it all starts adding up.

If you have an A4, a shift kit and TC should give you good gains.

I would get gears first and then start saving up for Tiago's turbo.

If you wanna pull the power out of the 3.4L V6, you need to get the stock heads ported and polished and then get a cam that matches your flow numbers. The stock heads and stock cam in the 3.4 really suck *** .

alright buddy, i learned this the hard way just as u mite too. dont waste ur money on making big hp numbers out of a v6 especially a 3.4. its not worth it. just save up for an LS1 or a Z28, trust me, ull regret it in the end, just as i do

what kind of numbers would i likely see from new heads and a big cam and what kind of numbers would i see from new heads with a turbo running
7-9 psi of boost??
im trying to decide whether to do heads, cam, and bolt ons, or save up for a turbo

i agree with them,i had major plans for my 3.8,but when i saw the cost of it all skyrocketing,it be senseless thanks to the fact that people like ta creations are providing parts to make an ls1/lt1 swap a breeze.i had a budget of almost 10 grand in parts and labor to build a forged internal, stage 3 head and cam, heavy fuel system, programming etc 3.8 in my 99 with a blower and nos.for about 3500 i could have an ls1 and 90% of what i needed to do the swap.

after realizing this,i decided to not do it,or if i can have my cake and eat it too, then id just hold out for buying an z28 and keeping my 6 as a daily driver.

either way,i reduced my plans to a head and cam package, and some ported intakes with a blower.just to make my daily driver wake up a bit.the intense heads seem nice, pricey though....sucks to see you regreted working your 6,what did you do to it and why did you regret it?

some of you guys keep saying to do a swap but i started this thread to ask how to modify my 3.4 not how to do an engine swap.
to me its not realistic...i would spend a minimum of $5k on a motor/tranny swap and only run 13's....Or i could get tiagos turbo for $2500-$3k and a 50-75 shot of nitrous w/ 3.73 gears and lsd and be in the 12's probably. so if anyone wants to help me get i deas for my 3.4 post, but dont post "you need to do a swap" cause i would rather drag and beat a lt1/ls1/5.0 in my 6

Don't just slap a turbo and an extra layer of head gaskets on you engine (that's the ricer way).
1 build an all motor car, with P&P heads, cam (not to big of one), intake P&P, new interanls, and some spark and fuel up grades (stay around you stock c/r).
2 now salp a turbo on there you will be much happier, you will make much more power with less boost and you will be able to run more boost than you ever would if you had a near a stock engine.
I don't know about all you, but I don't like "kits" I buy and build my own when ever I can.
