Haynes Manual says p0420 is "Catalyst system efficiency below threshold, left bank"

I get that same error, I'm glad to hear what it is finally.

Maybe its time for that O2 simulator.

I've seen the same code thrown because of bad spark plugs. If your ignition system isn't burning up the fuel good enough, it could throw that one too. Just FYI.

i just had a new catco and new s pipe and new i pipe put in about 500 miles ago... i replaced the o2 sensor at that time as well. ive got an 02 sim on its way, suppose ill try that and see what it does. i suppose it couldnt hurt to chage wires and plugs at the same time.

I believe TWC stands for Three-Way Catalyst... and like others said it's an o2 code, or a CAT code..

Many people who use the 3" cat-co need to put an o2 simm after the cat to run code free, I am one of them.

I believe caspers electronics sells individual o2 simms for our cars at around $45 a piece.

              good luck.

Where's does everybody get their car autotapped? Most of the places around here are Advanced Auto Parts, and they usually dont know anything about cars, period. Went in one day for an S-10 starter, and came home with one for a Volvo, or something. When I took it back, the guy got the right box and checked it to make sure it was for an S-10, then he traded starters with me, and put the wrong one back into the S-10 starter's box. I just left. So where should I go to get autotapped?

Isn't there a way to add a resistor to the o2 sensor so it doesnt throw a code when you take the cat out?

Yeah, but 180 bux (at the very least) is more than I wanna pay for a cable. Can Autozone do it?

In a word....no. Its a program that you have to buy, plus teh cable that hooks up to your computer (laptop) not just a code scanner like they will have at autozone fo free.
