• SLP V6 1.8 rocker arm package

Here is something good for the 3.8 owners -

As the aftermarket's foremost authority on late-model GM performance vehicles, SLP Performance Parts was among the first companies to develop power-enhancing hardware for the 3.8-liter W-Body. Now SLP is taking W-Body bolt-ons to the next level, with the introduction of our exclusive 1.8-ratio roller rockers for 3800-Series V6 engines.

As the workhorse of GM's passenger-car powertrain lineup, the 3800 is equipped with a mild camshaft suitable for use in a variety of vehicle applications. Simply increasing the rocker-arm ratio from 1.6 to 1.8 yields valve-lift figures of .464/.459" (stock is .413/.408")-enough to boost output by as much as 10 hp, with no adverse effect on drivability.

Figures were obtained through rigorous testing of street-driven W-Bodies and have proved replicable on SLP's in-house SuperFlow chassis dyno.

These rocker arms are manufactured from high-strength T6 aluminum and feature a roller trunnion and tip that significantly reduce valvetrain friction over the stock steel units. Best of all, no valve-cover modifications or spacers are required for installation.

Note: Fits any 1997-2003 W-Body equipped with a supercharged or naturally aspirated 3800 V6. Package includes rocker arms, pushrods, detailed installation instructions, and all necessary hardware.

Each rocker bears the SLP Performance Parts logo.

This package is now listed in the V6 induction section of our website.

Have a good day,
Tom

Do they offer them in the stock 1.6:1 ratio? I haven't seen the product on the slponline website but I will keep a lookout for them.

$550 isn't a bad price for roller rockers + hardened pushrods. I already have the hardened, oil-restricted pushrods, all I want is the rockers, and darn if SLP won't sell the rockers seperately  There's an SLP dealer local here, and he can't get them seperately, kinda erks me.......
You want to know what\'s on my car? Tough luck!

Not flaming...this is a serious Q...

Who the HELL would pay $550 or even $350 for 10 hp?!

People pay more than that for a catback and see the same gain.

You guys are missing the whole point. 10HP is a good gain. Its not like cars get faster overnight. And Tom thanks a bunch for the info. Im really happy to see developments for the 3.8 fbody. I wish they would make them in a 1.6 ratio and I would consider picking up some.

Keep in mind that the roller rockers complete the whole performance package of the engine. If you are planning on all out performance, you would not build a high performance engine and neglect an intake because it's only advertised at a 10Hp gain. All of these mods work together.

These rockers are for folks who want to run more lift and not tear apart the top end to install a cam. Obviously you are better off to run more lift in the cam but this gives another option. Tom is right on the $$ to HP ratio. 10 HP isn't free or cheap. The price is not bad for a set of nice rockers AND pushrods. The 3.8 uses the same style rocker as the LS1 which run about the same price.

I would buy a set of these for sure if they were 1.6. Us cammed cars need a 1.6 option. Maybe SLP will make another set.

Does anyone know if these will offer any (additional) benefit when used in conjunction with the SSMS powerpak?

The new issue of GM High Tech Performance (5/03) has an article about these rockers.

NO NO, The LS1 rockers will not work for sure. Thrasher had a whole in depth article on the differences. Sorry did not mean to imply that. I just wanted to point out that the rocker design and style are the same as a LS1 so expect to pay LS1 prices. The actual size is a little different to a LS1 rocker will not lign up correctly.
