So what are the split ratios? (I.e. 1.6 on rocker #2, and 1.78 on rocke r#4?, etc) What is the ratio? What are the splits and where, on which rockers?

What is the gain on the split ratios vs. the same ratio across all the rockers?

Will the split ratio require any other modifications?

Other parts needed, (I.e. pushrods, lifters etc)
Thanks,
JAM
02 Firebird GT

Hmmm, that is interesting.. I Took a stat class last semester and beaing that HP curves can be considereded Standard normal curves, I did some math to figure the diffrence in the missing 1.8/1.8 data. You are right in the sence that the SLP kit is not "optimim" but its not too bad either, expecialy considering that they are trying to keep it at safe tolerences.. I found (using your numbers) similar results to what you are selling.. but, I will take your word for it because my numbers were estimates due to rounding.. So yeah, there are a few more ponies to be had with a split ratio..

I finally found the kit you are refering to on your website. Its the kit titled "High Ratio Rocker Arms for the GT".. I missed it the first time I went through your website.

I am acctualy going to consider it, are the insructions provided f-body specific or FWD?? or are the generic and useless?

on a side note, it would be reallllllllly helpfull if you would make a seperate "fbody" side of your website. Its difficult to tell what products are geared to our cars with that massive list..

Thanks for the insight,
~Billy

Jam,

Split Rockers = differnt ratio for exhaust then the one you are using for the intake.

So, in effect you would use EX.. 1.75 ratio on all of your exhaust valves and 1.9 on the intake valves.. (note: i picked those #'s randomly) i have not had the time to figure out what the acctual ratio Zoooomer sells is.. if you look at his website you can determine it from the valve extension.

Oh crap.. Gota get to class.. lol (god dam comp sci 2)

I've listed this GP on our website and it will be running until Friday, March 14th (2 weeks). Orders can be placed on the site or by calling 1-877-4-TBYRNE. I've also incluned rocker packages for the LS1 guys so there shouldn't be much of a problem getting to 5 or more orders. You guys will probably make 5 for the V6.

Installation instructions can be found at - http://www.slponline.com/inst/51116.pdf

Thanks,
Tom

Hey Tom, thanks for setting up that GP. I will be ordering a set of those SLP rockers for sure.

I'm already running a .450 lift cam so adding the rockers should be a nice upper rpm improvement.

I love it when a vendor comes on here and bashes another product and outright says it sucks. That's a great way to earn my business. (NOT)

You know, I was thinking the same thing. That's why I just placed my order w/ Tom. Woo Hoo! So there's a quick 2 out of 5 on the GP.

Dam, I am quite undecided on the issue.. Zoomer has a valid point about using diffrent ratios.. I worked it all out and assuming that his dyno #'s are correct he is completly right. however the price on the SLP kit is great..

What do you think james?

We all agree that more lift is going to produce better results in the upper rpms. So if you increase your lift by going with a 1.8 rocker ratio then you will see a proven gain. I'm sure you will see a more more with a 1.9 rocker.

You should also consider (especially if you are totally stock) is you can increase your lift now with a 1.8 rocker. Later down the road when you choose your cam just add more lift on the exhaust side of the cam.

To clear up the several IM's I have recieved, tbyrne IS a firebirdv6.com sponsor and ZZP is not.

I'm not trying to bash a product. I waited for quite a few posts not trying to mention ZZP but I have no other choice. The SLP rockers are top quality. There are none better. However if the dyno results show that the ratio they are available in don't make much HP and that's what I post how can I make it not look like a slam? You can buy rockers from many different places other than ZZP and that's fine. Some might have a better deal some companies you might like dealing with from past experience. However the point of a message board is to share knowledge and progress the performance of everyone. Knowing that I can't sit back and not post dyno tested facts when people are going to be spending $550 on a mod that they might not buy if they knew all the facts.

Zoomer, we do appreciate you posting your dyno information. We promote the sharing of "secret" information and knowledge here for everyones gain and not just one persons.

Thanks again.

Thanks, Zooomer! I really appreciate the info.

ZZperformance is tops in my book, and I really do trust their information. They do more research into our engines more than anybody I know. Probably because they actually use the same engine.

Some info I'd thought I'd share. I bought a high velocity throttle body from zzperformance. It didn't fit, so I sent it back. They promptly sent me a refund, including shipping, no questions asked. How many companies do you know that will do that?

I think I would spend my money with someone who has spent personal time with our engines. Someone who believes in them, long before I would a company that is just selling someone elses hard work. SLP makes good stuff, but do they cater to the V6 market? Does anyone think they really went to great lengths to make sure that what they were doing was really the best for our cars?

I know Zoomer didn't mean to start anything, but I agree with him. If I could avoid a trainwreck by saying something, I would be saying something.

Nothing against Tom either, I know he does good things for us, and always helps keep us in the loop on new products. I appreciate both of you, however I would buy from Zoomer first, only because he has a vested interest in the 3.8, and that is just my opinion, take it for what it is worth.

I met the owner of that V6 in GMHTP.
He works for SLP also.
I think SLP now has some interest in the V6 community because we have one of our OWN in there!
