took autotap to the track last night. at the top of every gear i'm getting 2-6 degrees of knock retard, and SEVERELY pulled timing...once at the top of second gear i showed only 3* of advance...
i have O2 readings and S/LTerm readings as well...is there a certain range I need to be in to prevent knock? could progressive knock be false? i talked to a few people that said it could be false since it's progressive and at the top of every gear
If it's at the top of every gear it may be drivetrain shock from shifting. I see about 1-2 deg of knock on all my shifts from banging the gears but it's usually one cell only and doesn't pull any timing out.
If you haven't done any valvetrain mods or a cam I'd say it was false knock. Have you missed any shifts lately? Maybe a 2-1 shift and over reved the car? You could possibly have some bent pushrods. Can you hear the knock? If you had that severe of knock and it wasn't false you should be able to hear it.
I'd like to know the O2 values also but even when I was in the .7's on O2's I didn't pick up any knock. Damn knock sensors are a thorn in the side.
O2 values were .89 and .915 respectively...
I think it's either false knock somewhere outside the engine, or the fact I'm only using 89 octane could be it too...
for those who are interested or want to analyze it, i have the log file... http://www.fbody.com/members/navyblue2000/Drew01.log
there's the log file for those interested
I'd go with 93 octane and see if that helps. Everything looks to be ok other than your knock. It's killing your timing. Maybe you got a bad tank of gas. I'd get some 93 and a can of that NOS octane boost and see if that helps.
