Tricking the timeing...

Lets brainstorm and see if there is a cheap way we can do it with cheaply, without PCM reporgramming.

I have seen some things that can retard the timing, but looks the other direction.

More then jsut simple IAT timing tricker, maybe somehting that will work with that.

    Preferable for OBDI cars...

Speaking of which anyone know if OBDI computers are similar enough between LT1 and 3.4Ls we might be able to use osme lt1 stuff, I doubt it since igniton system is completly different but hey... worth a try.

I am sure with an o2 sensor or sim. and some resistors (preferably a setup unit you can adjust the resitance of)you could alter the a/f ratios.
But I am not sure about timing, other than the IAT sensor thing. Short of making a homeade maft+ of some sort.

I know the o2 can be used to modify the A/F ratio, you would need more then resistors to do that.

Waht else controls the timing other then the IAT?

thought of maybe the coolant temperature sensor?

a cooler motor likes to increase the timing.

maybe set with resistors (dunno which ones you'd need) the temperature to always read around 140-145*

my temp is already there :metal:

            Is there anything else?

Magnus? Aren't you doing computer tuning? anything else affect the tming?

I am assuming, certain things send a signal to the PCM and the PCM sends a signal somewhere ot set the timing?

Any idea what goes form where to where?

maybe we can do something after the PCM to modify voltage in a line and advance the timing.

Not sure about 3.4... but perhaps MAP.

Think anything can be done with either the crankshaft sensors, ro camshat sensor?

What about the knock, sensor, I know it can retard the timing, think it can be used to advance it?
