  • Lets Build a block!

Ok guys lets get to work. I have been saving for awhile now, and doing some work to my car. And i think that the time has come to start putting it all together.

Instead of me ripping apart the block i have im going to buy a used 3.8 and build that up this way i can still drive my car and i can build it up right.

My goal is to have a built motor from top to bottom. U know new pistons, rods, bearing, heads, intakes u know the works. And i want it to be supercharged. I have Heads that are being Ported and Polished and they are being done up. I have the upper and lower intakes ready for the P&P. I need everything else. What would u guys do for a set up? Lets not go to crazy with the money. Lets make it atleast somewhat affordable. Lets see what u guys can come up with! Thanks guys

you might wanna do some more research on P&P'd heads and intakes then .. and not on this site... on a forced induction car it wont make nearly the difference

sorry to say, ur mis-informed...the cylinder heads are probably the most crictical part of a motor that makes really good power, NA or w/a power adder...the more the heads flow, the more fuel/air will get into the combustion chamber whether its bein blown in there or not....

exactly that is why they are being P&P. without the air flow theres nothing

Buy the last two months issues of High Performance Pontiac. They rebuild a L67.

I went to buy the latest issue but they had nothing on the L67. What are the month issues?

HPP March 2004 - "Curing the blown up bottom end blues"
HPP Apirl 2004 - "Curing the blown up bottom end blues" Part 2

Here is what I would do:
                          L67 crank rebalanced to 50%
                          3800 III connecting rods
                          9.5 pistions
                          !balancer shaft

Then Cam and top end is up to you. But this is what I would do:
                          Intense Stage 3 heads
                          SSM P&P intakes
                          ZZP GT2 cam
                          SLP 1.8 rockers
                          Comp Cams lifters
                          MLS head gaskets

The lift on the GT2 cam is .317, which is .507 with stock rockers. With 1.8 ratio rockers that would be .570... How long until he hits his piston with teh valve? And also, I thought he said he wanted to supercharge it? Why not go with the VS cam?
