First, check all of your vacuum hoses. Once you get that settled, look for other potential leaks, such as a head gasket, etc. Grab a can of carb cleaner, and go to work on the outside and the inside (of the throttle body / etc). You'll likely find a bunch of stuff. And read you codes (which are definitely thrown if you're having that much trouble)
What kind of tranny do you have? That might have gone, not your engine. Either way, hate to say it, but the 93 is now 11 years old ...

Check the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). IF the computer is not getting getting a signal, your car will run like sh!t.

If they said low compression, I would consider getting a compressio testing tool and checking out the compression on each of the cylinders.

does it soudn lock anything is flopping around or maybe like someone dumped a jar full of metal marbles into your motor?

I drove a 2.8L 50 miles with only 5 pistons, the sixth was shattered and in the oil pan

Doesn't sound good. Could have a hole burned in a piston. I'd say before you go spending over 500 bucks on it, seriously consider picking up a junkyard or other used 3.4 motor. They're dirt cheap.

if you need a new motor...i would either see how much it will cost to get fixed, or go for a v8/ lt1 motor instead. Is this car your daily driver?

It should be very easy to put the 5.7 LT1 in your car. Just getting ahold of a nice motor would be the problem. Then again you could just get another 3.4L L32, I saw one in a GM performance catalog for dirt cheap.

EDIT: btw, I know you're probably pretty exasperated now about your situation, but please turn the caps off
