Since you guys are running some of the most advanced motors that have the most diagnosis done on them, I want to ask you how your stock injectors seem to be holding up. Are they being maxed out at WOT? I know that Mike just installed a set of 24lbers and is running extremely rich at idle, but how was it with the stock injectors?
I'm gonna reinstall the stock injectors once my motor is put back together, but I wanted to know what else, is terms of hp increase, they could handle.
thanx,
Royce

Did I miss something? When did your motor come apart?? I didn't really have injector problems until I put the blower on. Before the blower I had high pulse widths, around 23ms, afterwards they jumped to 32ms. The injector issue is a tough call. I know I was above 80% running N/A but I don't think I would have put bigger injectors in at the time. I think being able to program injectors will have a big impact on how many of us upgrade. I'm not real hip on the idea of having to lean out with the MAFT right now.
Royce, I got your e-mail.. I'll respond soon.. been very hectic.
I used to have stock injectors. They went static around 5700 RPM's or so I'd say.. I usually saw 23ms pulse widths with them. They can't really handle any more HP than that unless you keep the RPM's low.
Now I have accell 24 lb'ers which I think are rated at a lower PSI cause I see 16ms pulse widths at WOT now. BIG difference.
The only way to add HP to a heads/cam car with stock injectors would be a wet nitrous shot. A dry shot or a blower on stock injectors would cause the injectors to go static at a much lower RPM.. say 5200 maybe. Any RPM's past that you won't be getting enough fuel. As the RPM's increase, the leaner you will be.

Magnus - I'm seeing what you're describing with the dry shot...
Question about injectors, are they all the same, dimensionally?
I was looking at Summit Racing, they have 4 listed in the 24 lb range. The Accels (in a set of 8), some Ford's (ugh, I know, but had to look...) in a set of 8 that were $10 less than the Accels, Holley individually but 6 were higher than the accel set of 8, and MSD individually that were higher but not as bad as the Holley's.
Would any of these go in? How big a job to replace them, especially the ones in the back...?
I was looking at a accell catolouge, they make them specifically for our motor. I forgot the part #. And im not sure if there interchangable with other cars.
IMHO the Ford SVO injectors are the best. Lucas makes good ones too. Ford injectors are rated at 39psi and stock GM injectors are rated at 43.5. The Ford injector can flow much more fuel and have a better spray pattern in the upper rpm's. Almost everyone I know with an LT1 that has needed an injector upgrade went with a SVO injector. Even the 24lb SVO's will flow much better than a stock GM 24lb.
When I put in the GM 24's my pulse widths dropped a little but they are still going static. I'm getting the fuel I need now but I'm curious what a SVO injector would do.
Only catch is you have to either modify or remove your clips on the fuel rail that hold the injectors in.
Anyone want to call Accell and see what their injectors are rated at? They may be comparable with an SVO injector.
I thought u couldnt put new injectors in unless u reprogram pcm
