• another programming resource in the works

I've been hearing about a place called www.pcmforless.com and started looking at them the last couple of days. They have been doing reprogramming for Impala's, Caddy's, and some others.

Seems they are now working on programming pcm's for our cars. (hopefully this is not old news...)

Rates are pretty reasonable, on the ones they do now. Like $175 initially, free reprogram up to 60 days, then $50 for reprogram after that.

Here is some info I got via email from their lead programmer. (p.s. maybe they would be interested in sponsoring on the board, at some point when their product is ready).

Subject: Re: has there been any interest in doing v6 f-bodies?

We are in development of software that will allow us to take care of you V6 guys no problem. Hopefully it will all be finished in the next few months.
Thanks,
Bryan

And this one:

Hi John,
Sure, if you want to post that will be fine. What we are working on will allow us to reprogram ANY 96 and newer GM product. So we would be able to accomodate most of their cars. The 94/95 cars we will have to see if we can put something together for them.
Thanks,
Bryan

Ask him if he plans on doing an OBDII to OBDI conversion for our cars. I read on a local fbody board of some 96-97 LT1 guys doin' it and they gained about 7hp, and he can program em better to support any mods you have done.

I can ask him, but I have a feeling that the more questions they get from several different people, the more they will realize there is a market out here for the v6's... His email and phone number are in the original post. Let me know if you still want me to ask though, because I don't mind.

They are doing OBD2 to OBD1 conversions for the v8's. And they have even listed some resources for getting a cable to plug into your OBD2 connector to interface with the typical OBD1 monitoring software. Seems like there might be some concerns in states that do emissions testing though, in particular the ones that tap into your port as part of the test, so that's something to think about.

I'll go ahead and e-mail him, because we seriously need somethin for our cars. I was wanting to know because SC doesn't do emissions tests, so no concerns here.

'Hi,

I don’t think I will be doing an OBD1 conversion for the v-6, BUT, we are in development of v6 software and would be able to shut the O2 codes off for you. We hope to have it ready in just a few months.

Thanks,

Bryan'

That was the e-mail I got, so I'm happy that I can at least get the codes shut off. A big to Bryan and pcmforless because it looks like they might actually go through with making us a chip.

It's for the one after the cat (the one we really don't need anyways) so I can run a test pipe without returning codes...
