• Need Advise/Help, NOT A CAM Q.

First: I have 1996 3.8 V6 Camaro w/ Y87 package. I have a few performance mods; see sig and I will also soon have rkpsort headers.

With that said, I will soon purchase, a Comp Cam GT cam from ZZP (specs: 210°/210° Intake Lift .317", Exhaust Lift .317", 112 LS), #105 Valve Springs, ZZP's modified valve spring retainers, and ZZP's L36 cam install kit (I'm not sure what all it includes). Is there anything else I need to complete the installation?

Ok, here's where I need help. My car is approaching 93k miles. So, I'm concerned about the effects these engine mods w/ have on my engine. I want to be able to perform w/out anything taking a crap on me. Should I do a full engine rebuild when installing these parts? Or is there just certain key parts I should replace b/c of need or just to be safe. I need advise and recommendations please.

Also, in addition to installing these parts, should I mess w/ fuel delivery? Would you guys suggest 24 lbs injectors, or a fuel pressure regulator, or something else?

All help will be greatly appreciated. :D

Stock injectors will work fine. Personally, I would be a bit leery of tossing a cam in a high mileage car. I definately recommend replacing everything in the valvetrain except the rocker arms. Get your hands on an autotap and monitor the engine first. Get a feel for how it is currently running. Fix any misfires or knock retard so you are starting with a fresh slate when you do put the cam in.

While the car is that far apart, I would replace the head gaskets. (You will need to buy those too).
I would replace lifter, valvesprings, pushrods, etc, just because you can.
Timing chain and tensioner wouldn't be a bad idea either.

You will also need an upper intake gasket (for some reason ZZP doesn't include one.) And you need the blue lower intake gaskets, not the orange ones. Make sure they know that.

3800 performance has a "Cam install" kit for 84 buck and 65 more with the timing chain that would be your best bet,

like the others said
compcams ORE lifters
compcams spings and retainers
compcams push rods

if you go the cash i would new main and connecting rod bearings, new oil pump, new rings that way all the major parts of you motor have 0 miles on them and new cam bearings to

new head gaskets and all the little stuff, and your good to go for 100K more

dont get the cam install kit. IT is for a front wheel drive l36 and the intake gaskets wont match. You can get a gasket kit from gmpartsdirect for alot cheaper also.

your stock injectors should work fine.

Are you 100% sure the GM Cam Install Kit for the L36 with Timing Chain and Tensioner from 3800performance won't fit my 96 V6? It's listed under Firebird and Camaro.

Come on guys help me finish this list please.

yes it will because internal part for L36 are the same just make sure you order it under the camaro,

its say fits all l36 1996 to present,

make sure you get the L36 one and not the L67 and you will be fine.

when slecting the part, make sure its NO on the gasket for that is 6 bucks thats for L67 motors

Viper you are the man, and don't forget it.

I still got a few Q's I'd like for you to clear up please.

On clevite 77 cam bearings and main bearings. Are they 18.99 and 66.99 EACH or is that for a set. If for each, how many of each do I need?

Also, this confused me:
"they also sell vaule and everything thing at advance, vavle seat and the works"
Can you clarify please?

Also, I don't plan on boosting so I don't think I need the Intense head gasket? Can I get a replacement one from advanced?

I was thinking about getting the Taylor Spiro 8mm wires, are the MSD wires better? I guess I'll go ahead and replace the coils w/ the MSD coils.

And Viper, are you sending off your PCM to see if wester can tune 96-97 PCMs?
