    get the cam out

    i got my spare engine stripped down to the block and i can not for the life of me get the cam out it is hitting on someithing and yes i have it level it's hitting something how do i work with it i have tried everything i know :(

      i found out what it is at the back of the block where my uncle says the distributer goes on older cars is some kind of plug and there is a gear down in there holding the cam on i am not sure what it is or how to take it off :(

          hey im doin a cam right now and i cant get that oil pump gear out either its a heck of a job. Hmm any tips on how to get it out i tried vice grips pulling str8 up but man it sure seems stuck and yes i took the retainer clip off with the bolt but man its in there. i culd sure us e sum help thats the only thin i have lleft to do, then i funna go ram-a-cam in the camaro it be fun when that dun

              k i got this i used 2 screw drivers and sum force but it werked. it souds bad but hey i got it and didnt break nuthin. so im good old cam out new cam in jus degreed my cam and starting the valve springs in the morning i eat and sleep now see ya.. thanks fer the first help magnus and tiago u guys rule,

                Give it a good shot of wd-40, let it sit for a while and then pry up evenly from both sides.

                  got it off just played with it a lil more and repositiond the cam a lil i also used plyers to pull up on it will rotating and pried up with a screw driver andall of a sudden it came out easy as pie :D
