Has anyone tried a cam without porting and polishing their heads to see what kind of a gain it will provide? I'm starting to wonder if the port/polishes are *necessary* to get all the benefit from a cam.
I propose someone, possibly even me, dyno stock, dyno with a cam, then dyno with cam and heads. Does supersix have any information on this?
I've done the before and after dyno of just a cam install (with ported intakes). 25rwhp was my gain. I'll eventually get the heads but now I'm running a blower so the next dyno won't show N/A gains.
How did the cam alter the power range of the engine? I'll check out your dyno sheets as well.
How did the cam affect the streetability? I'm a daily driven college student, so I don't need reliability issues.
Would a setup like yours require stiffer valve springs/recommend valve springs?
Lastly, I know they've probably been listed, but what is the brand and specs of the cam?

Gains from the cam are all in the upper rpms, a little loss down low, which is typical for a big cam. I think the split duration is what makes the car less streetable. If it's a daily driver I'd go with a single pattern cam and not go lower than 113 on the lobe seperation. My cam was ground for use with stock springs, the total lift is .450 on intake and exhaust.
Call Tom at www.supersixmotorsports.com He can custom grind whatever specs you want. My cam specs are in the database.
I spoke with Tom about it, and he reco'ed the "basic" regrind which happens to be your cam as well... and I even included in the e-mail how I was looking to keep it a little more streetable. He also mentioned how I could upgrade the springs and go with .50" lift.
The way you made it sound - your car at those specs is pretty lopey and not very streetable low RPMs?
What would you suggest in terms of numbers to tone it down a notch? (since Tom seems to reco your specs)...
I'm just kinda stumped is all from two seemingly different opinions... and since you're the one who owns the cam and all.
oh ya, please also include your thoughts on going with the stiffer springs and .50 lift.
Thanks Mike (or whoever else answers

Hello every one, ozzy here ive been looking at this page for weeks now finally joined. So my question is why is it that every turbo build forum just ends...
Just ordered some Toyo 315/35/17 tires for my 17x11 rims. Hopefully I can get them on the beginning of next year. Will post pics.
