I found out at first it would be possible but not very streetable. (Large Lopey Cam, ect ect..) Question is this... If I did this and mated it to a Six Speed with my 3.42 rear, would it be more streetable?
Or wait, will the RPMS be LOWER than it needs to be?
it doesnt have anything to do with your gear ratios, and the price for a 6-speed swap would be enormous since it'd have to be custom swapped. A lot of manual guys have looked into it, but there isn't a company that makes a conversion kit to adapt it to our cars.
The reason it's going to be unstreetable will be probably due to the large cam. It's going to lope and try to stall at stoplights. The car will shake from the chop in the lope, and you're going to have a hard time running accessories(a/c, etc); to make that kind of power, you're idle will be incredibly erratic as the car tries to stay on while not in the upper rpms.

matt from tsp put down 240 to the wheels na which would be about 290 to the crank...put a 75 shot on top of that and you'd be pushing 350 to the crank at least. I dont think that combo would be horrible as far as streetability...ive driven in heads/cam v6's and as long as its got a decent tune and the cam isnt too too large they cope just fine especially with decent gears.

appearently everyone is overlooking the fact that he said n/a. you'll need a massive cam, P&P everything and a stroker kit along with custom made longtube headers and all the bolt ons.

Yeah, I was going to swear I saw NA in the title when I responded earlier. If you want 350 hp at the fly, that's 297rwhp assuming 15% drivetrain loss. You're going to need to spend a lot of money for the stroker, P&P mods, and all the other custom mods. In the end it would be a lot more reliable and streetable if you choose to go with a blower or turbo. A powerdyne w/an intercooler would probably come quite close to that, and cost about the same. When you start pushing numbers like that all motor (almost doubling factory output) you're sacraficing a lot of the driveability with the car. If you want this to be easily streetable, you may want to think twice about it; as a track only car though, I could see if being pretty feasible.

I'm surprise nobody has mention "V8". If I were you and was planing on a 350hp car, I would do it right from the start by saving that money and buying a V8. You will spend the same money, and maybe more, trying to make your car push 350hp. I, on the other side, am glad I realized that just in time before going crazy and trying to make a race car out of my car. Now I'm just trying to make my car looks nice and in a future (hopefully not too far from now) I'll be getting a V8. (Maybe the new Camaro, if it's ever build)
Just my opinion.
Good luck.
You want 350HP, buy a Z28. Plain and simple. Save yourself the time and hassle of trying to get 350HP out of your 3.8L. The Z28 is probably going to be more streetable/reliable anyways. You might even get better gas mileage with the T56 behind the LS1. 350HP is not hard to get out of those LS1 engines with just a few of your basic bolt-on mods. Only problem with this idea is the insurance aspect of owning a Z28. At least that is the ONLY thing that is holding me back from gettin' me a Z! Actually, a lot of insurance companies will not even insure me(being only 19), the ones that will want to charge me an arm and a leg.

CamaroKRAZED, I know exactly your situation, being 19 also. I would say that at our age it is worth the insurance alone to put money into a v6. For example, for me the difference would be $400 every six months between a v6 and a v8. If I planned to have the car for at least 5 years (the loan term), you figure I will save $4000 on insurance alone.
If you add that in to the extra $2500 or so it would have cost to get a v8 of the same year, you get $6500 over the life of the payment period that you saved. $6500, my friend, is a lot of performance that could be added to your little 6.

I was thinking the same... I saw 15% drivetrain loss  ... Is drivetrain loss always a fixxed rate? It would seem to me what may be 15% of 200 HP might be 10% of 250 or 300 HP... I always thought you just lose like at the most 25 - 30 HP to an A4 but as you increase the amount you lose to the drivetrain would remain the same... I guess I'm wrong? It's always a percentage of your power output?
350 HP and only putting down 297 HP kind of...sucks... Anyway the drivetrain loss can be taken out?
I was really just curious about the 350 HP mark... I was going to biuld the car to about 275 - 300... Anything more than that really isn't desperately needed... but it sure is fun!
Where can I search up some Cams? also the more lift for intake / exhaust = more HP right?
Hello every one, ozzy here ive been looking at this page for weeks now finally joined. So my question is why is it that every turbo build forum just ends...
Just ordered some Toyo 315/35/17 tires for my 17x11 rims. Hopefully I can get them on the beginning of next year. Will post pics.
