  • lifters!!

    okay i plan to do this tomorrow but i need to know if i can change them with out changing the cam i heard you must change the cam also is there any truth to this?

    and also any one that has done it how long did it take you to do it?

    You don't need to change your cam, whoever told you that is smoking crack. You can do it in about 4-6 hours (Patients permitting). Just take your time.

      What crack pipe told you that?
      On the 3.4 it a bit simple, remove:
      Upper intake
      valve covers
      lower intake
      pushrods
      lifters

      Don't forget to put them in the correct firing order. [img]smile.gif[/img]

        well i have had trouble doin it got it all back together and now i have tick galore but on a good side no leaks

        so did i over tighten them or there not tight enough?

        help me i got school tuesday long *** drive back home

          Make sure you torque the rockers down when the valves are closed.. If you tighten them down and the valve begins to open you'll need to rotate the camshaft a little more till the lifter sits on the center part of the cam (off of a lobe).

          I always tighten all the rockers to spec, and then go over each rocker again and re-torque them (always with the valves closed).

            On a hydraulic roller you do not need to change the cam, on a Hydraulic or flat tappet cam you have to change the cam and lifters otherwise the lobes will go flat.
