• Still trying to figure the best cam for my 3.8!

I've been searching and reading for the last hour to find the answer and still can't! Here what I'm lookin for: I have a daily driver, and I have stock heads, nothing is P&P, NA engine and will stay that way, I want a cam with a nice "choppy" idle, good hp gains, will not set off any SES codes, and won't kill gas mileage. I want a cam that I'm not going to pull back out the eninge a month later because I'm not satisfied with it. I've read that 210/212 112LS is a good for NA engine. Where can I purchase the cam from and what other components/upgrades do I need to work with the cam?

Thanks a lot guys!

Sounds like you're trying to satisfy every need in the book!

With more power comes less fuel economy.
With any chop comes an SES light.
Stock heads/Intake is 100% okay

There are tons of options... I have my own likes and dislikes. Your best bet is probably to go with something proven if you don't know how to choose one. Perhaps the zzp GT grind? Seems popular

Will I be satisfied with the GT cam? Is there any computer tuning with this cam? Is there any way to bypass the SES light if the cam sets it off, the website claims that the cam will NOT set off any SES codes? I want this to be done right the first time. I don't mind giving up a little MPG put I don't want to get as bad, if not worse, then a Z28 or TA.

Thanks Dominic

our gas mileage is pretty close to an ls1 already. at least manual to manual. look at the zzp gt cam or the intense stage I cam. both will probably set off the ses light after extended idle. i went with the stage I cam from intense. he came up with his specs after flowing 20 different sets of stock heads and that cam was enough to take the grand prix GT record. scott says that cam should only be used with stock heads after you start porting and polishin the heads use the stage II which looks more like the conventional specs. as soon as i finish putting my grand prix back together and get it out of my garage i'll be installing it.
i was swimming in the carribean. animals were hiding behind the rocks except for the little fish, but they told me the squid\'s trying to talk to me. oink, oink. where is my mind?

I believe you'll have good luck with the GT cam, plus you have zoomer to talk to about it who will back it for you. Its one of the better designs I think.

If I buy the GT Cam, what other components do I need, valvatrain related, to work with the cam. Does the computer need any custom tuning after the cam install? Will autotap work ok?

Thanks for all your help guys!
