• What can a tech2 change?

I now have access to a Tech2 but have yet to use one. I figured I could plug it up and play around, but if any of you have used a Tech2 before chime in. I'm interested in what it can change, because I know it's a scan tool capable of monitoring everything. Can I say... change the temperatures the fans kick on/off, or change engine timing?

    Just curious

i believe it can change for gears, tire size and maybe a few other minor things and can scan...i dont think you can alter anything major like timing/fans...this is just what i have heard from people that have used it though so take it fwiw.

cant do much but help you diag your car for problems. The only way you can change anything with a tech 2 is dl your flash file to it, then hooking it up to the computer. even then the software we have doesnt let you load in custom files, only ones downloaded from gm, to change gears and such you must call gm with a dealer # a vin # then they make up the file and e-mail it to you, then you download that to the car.....if you just wanna play around with it though, you can control basically your entire car from the keypad. Lights, horn, radio, turn injectors off, open your egr up or close it, but only while the tech 2 is attached. Really after you go through every single menu on the thing (which Ive done) its not that exciting anymore.

Good to know, thanks I'll just invest in a reprogrammer after I get some tires.
