• Found someone developing software to do our PCM's

Well I shot off an email just for fun to this guy about doing our PCMs and here's what he had to say.

Hi,

I don’t do the v6 yet, but we are working on software (It was supposed to be ready a month ago) to do the V6 and hope to be able to offer it real soon.

Thanks,

Bryan

Well they may actually be doing something because quite some time back when I emailed them they were not working on anything for the V6!

Maybe this is a good sign !

I hear Carputing, the same company that designed LT1 and LS1Edit, is working on the program for our cars! That will be nice, and you can do anything and everything you want to tune your car at home. I will definitely be one of the first in line for l36edit!

Dave Buckshaw does computer tuning for camaro 3.8 now. He is part of DHP performance who is highly praised in the Grand Prix world.

It we be sweet if someone would come out with DIY software like L36edit!

I dunno about that pcm for less nonsence..
I checked out thier website a while ago.. and their method is to install old pcms into new obdII cars..

so, i dont think its a great idea, you wont pass emissions in any state that does the obdII scan..

i dunno.. seems kinda silly..

Well.. hate to burst the bubble..

email i jsut got back from the makers of ls1 edit:

Cool, thanks for the quick responce.
I will pass this info on to the masses to dissolve the roomers.. but there are alot of people that would be interested in an editor for the l36 engines.. just take a look at the camarov6.com message board and the grandprix boards.. there are alot of people modding these engines with turbos, nitrous, and superchargers w/o any good tuning and can really benifit from the ability to do so.. I will keep and eye on your site..

thanks again!

> Hi Billy
> Well we have just started looking into V6 engines. Right now, we
> have worked on the 4.3L V6 truck engine. It uses a PCM that is similar
> to the LS1/LS6 engines. We have not worked on other V6's yet, but
> probably will get there eventually. New PCM's take us a long time to
> work through, so we cannot commit to a date when we will have it, but it
> could easily be 1-2 years.
>
> Thanks,
> Dave @ carputing.com

> > there is a roomer moving around the messege boards that you are developing a programming system similar to the infamous LS1 edit for 3.8L powered gm cars..
> >
> > Is this true? or just a rumor?
> > I would be highly interested in this product if it does become available!
> > simply because custom tuning for our cars costs around $300-500..
> >
> > I dont really want any other info then a simple yes or no about the possability of this new system..
> >
> > Thanks for all your good work on ls1 edit, my roomate
> loves it..
> >
> > ~Billy

ohh well.. maybe eventualy we wil have an ls1 edit type system.. but not anytime soon so it seems..
