  • cam / rocker question

Alright, so I bought this 95 3.4 and have a question... not all too familiar with how some valvetrain effects each other.

I ordered the comp cams x-kit with the 260 duration cam and the magnum roller rockers with 1.6 ratio and energy pushrods... now...

    1. are these fully compatible?
    2. I dont need to make any other alterations going from a 1.5 ratio to a 1.6?

also, I am getting a shop to bowl blend and port match everything, as well as do a 3 angle valve job and back-cut the valves.

    3. Are my stock valves still good or should I order some new OEM replacements?
    4. is there another larger valve that would be compatible and give me a better performance?

thanks, I appreciate your help with these 4 questions.

The 260 is a mild cam and the 1.6 rockers arn't that much.
You might need new valve springs.
The old valves might still be use full, get them inspected.
don't bother with larger valves now you don't get to much.

you got the 16-233-4 cam correct? well i hope this is all compatible cause thats what i got ready to go into my car.. lol..
yeah.. they should be good.. you might wanna look at the valve stem clearance though. I dont htink it'll be an issue but i havent gotten around to gettin my stuff together yet so i'm not certain.
as far as the valves, SI valves makes valves for our cars. they run around $10 or so a piece. look into them if you want but the stockers will be fine as long as they are still in good shape.
good luck with the install and hope things work good for ya..

ask the machine shop, they'll tell you if your valves are still ok, if they're in good shape don't worry about the stockers.

get valve springs, they aren't that much and they will ensure more uniform function and reliability over the stock springs.

Port and polish those heads yourself, it's not that hard at all, look up a couple tutorials on some hotrod sites or something and bust out the carbide tipped dremel (or drill if you're in a bind)

8 to 10 hours of work will really open up even stock heads, and you'll be pleasantly suprised at the gains... Not to mention you just feel badass when you do that stuff yourself and your motor is all the better for it, lol.

You might need different valve covers for 1.6 rockers to be on the safe side though.
