  • Caddlic Northstar Swap?

This is an idea i have been throwing around with myself for alittle while now. I am curous if this has ever been done before and if it has how much work was involed? I know it would be easier to swap in a LS1, but i want to be different. Plus i think the Northstar is an awesome engine that has a lot of untaped potental. I was wondering if the heads (being DOHC) would be able to fit in the engine bay and if the whole intake can be swiched around to have the TB facing towards the front of the motor? I can pick up one of of a wecked caddy in the junkyard for a good desent price plus be able to snag the wring harness. Speaking of which how hard would wring would be also? Let me know what you guys think.

also popular for the Fiero crowd. Something about a 60* transmission bolt pattern ;)

No, I actually saw it when it was being built. They were putting some finishing touches on it. Last I heard he ended up putting an LS1 in it, I think* he blew his tranny with the northstar.....

I have been looking into the same thing but I'll probably just force-feed my Camaro instead when Tiago starts selling kits.

Your biggest worry is the bellhousing. chrfab.com sells the one you need to bolt the thing up to a t56 tranny. They also have the flywheel.

The intake manifold just needs to be turned 180 and bolted back on. It was a guy from CHRF that told me that.

You'll need one of those Holley computers or something like it to get the engine working right.

Also if you're really adventurous, CHRF has a heads and cam package that wakes the NS up bigtime. Can you say 100hp/l? You'd be hunting horsies for sure. And I don't mean Mustangs...
