• Engine Swap, GTX

Hey guys,
I've got a feeling my engines going to go soon, so I've been thinking about what I want to do for a new one. I've ruled V8 out, too much of a hassle. I was curious as to if anybody knows about swapping a GTX engine in. Same thing right? Just comes with the supercharger and internals. Does anyone know if its even possible? And if so, is it difficult? I'm thinking some stuff might be incompatible because its FWD. What else would you need to buy? Motor mounts? Wiring harness? Computer?

Thanks,
Kevin

You would need the supercharger off of one of the Holden cars from Australia. The M90 on the GTP L67 will not work in a RWD application. There are more problems, but that is the biggest obstacle.

What are the other problems? Do you know why the supercharger won't work with RWD?

The intake is in the rear of the Supercharger. The intake routing from the GTP won't work.

So what all would I have to do to get it to work?

Lot's of custom fabrication and too much work. Do a search it's been discussed millions of times.

yep what he said...

it sounds easy but its not really that... easy... I am looking into cost of partson on the holden L^7 M90... atually there is a guy locally(orlando) that deals with australian stuff. Not even sure if that works...

I did a search, didnt find anything :/

It just seems easier to get an engine thats already supercharged and built for the supercharger than to go through all the hassle of rebuilding your own engine and installing a supercharger... even if you do have to fabricate some.

Best bet is to just rebuild with GTP internals, keep your topend, and invest in one of the new boost setups the V6's now have. Tiago's turbo kit, or one of the supercharger kits.

You'd make gobs more power then just swapping in a GTP motor, and much less fabrication. Plus, moving motors around is a pain in the *** and/or expensive.

basically your air filter would be poking through your firewall if you tried to use a gtp supercharger in a rwd fbody.

at least if you did that you could put a air conditioining vent into the intake for "cold air injection"
