  • Running rich w/the new cam help guys

    I need to know whats up. I have installed the crower baja beast and to my knowledge everything is back in right and timed right but i tried to start it and it reved to 1500 and died then the plugs were fouled and i could smell gas is this weird or is it just me maybe do i need a fuel pressure regulator or is it a different problem that i need to address the idle was sik soundin till it cut out i want it to run now but i gotta take it slow and do it right any help would be appreciated as always,

    Oh yeah if it is a fuel pressure regulator i need does anyone know of one that fits (like tiago u got one whats the part# im sooo frustrated its just one thing after another but its ok ill get this yet

    hey guys c'mon i know that some one can diagnose this prob the car starts then dies out and fouls the plugs all i did was put in a cam is this what did it, fuel pressure regulator what im pretty sure its too rich cuz the fouled plugs but hey anyone wanna help a guy out... Magnus do u got any ideas......

      Well you need to give us a little more details about you car.. what engine you have and what mods you have.. and cam specs..

      I beliieve you have a 3.4... right?

      I'm thinking you don't have a MAF sensor.. perhaps your MAP sensor is malfunctioning.. I would ask.. why is the PCM adding so much fuel? Is the PCM really adding fuel? what are your pulse widths at idle.. etc. etc.

        ummm i have cat-back xhaust, intake, crower baja beast cam ill post the specs in the morning its late now, 180 deg thermostat, and engine wise thats it fer the 3.4, my friend said that i might need a fuel pressure regulator but i mean i know a guy with this same cam and i dont think he has one. thanks fer responding though magnus umm pulse rate i have no idea how i could find this on my car no maft plus er anythin ummmmmm i dont know what else i can tell u tonight but any ideas would be great thanx, Dakota

          thats the issue with running a cam on our cars, it floods at low rpms and runs out of fuel up top, you could use a AFPR to correct the problem and thin out hte mix , but then u will really starve for fuel up top, only way to fix this is a custom program.

          it could be something else causing the problem though, it should be able to idle still :eek:


          the AFPR I have is from a 3rd gen TPI 305 fbody, works good.
