my friend could do this to his 94 chevy truck...i think he said it had something to do with the throttle body cable length. check to see that the cable (by your tb) isn't stuck or hung on anything. of course, if you haven't always had this problem then and haven't been messing with your tb cable lately, i can't tell you what it is. but hey, it's kinda like having a 2k stall torque converter...i'd just screw losing the gas and keep it that way if i were you 2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

Is the throttle blade closing completely?
Figure out where the engine is getting the air from.

You might want to check the 'IAC' Idle Air Control.
I had the same exact problem and it turned out my IAC was sticking causing the high idle. $58 at Pep Boys for the part and about 10 min for the install. Check out a Haynes or Chiltons manual for the exact location on your motor, they also tell you how to remove and check it before buying a new one.
Good Luck, hope this helped.94 Firebird, 3.4 V6, Red, M5
SLP CAI, Accel 8mm Superstock Wires, Bosch Platinum +4 Plugs, Borla Exhaust, BMR Strut Tower Brace, 180* Thermostat, B&M Ripper Shifter
http://www.cardomain.com/id/94bird

Check that, also are ther5e any hissing sounds.
I knwo you said the vacuum lines were good, double check the big T fitting dead in fornt and on top of the upper intake manifold, mine had a big crack in it, didn't really see it till i took it off, didn't realy cause much of a high idle but a wierd one.
do you smoke? Maybe inhale and blow it arounf the TB and maybe nea the intake manifold. MNaybe oyu cna see the smoke being sucked in. When I adjusted my rockers, I snapped a upper intake manifold bolt and tried to wing it for a day without one, didn't work my idle was at 4k.
Did you have the motor apart recently, maybe a seal is getting broken

I had that same problem about 4 months ago. All I did was turn my car off and back on after letting it sit there an hour or so. I have no clue what caused it.1999 Firebird Black
A4 3.08 gears
Mods: Carbon Fiber Whisper Lid, Raised Air Box, K&N Air Filter, Direct Hits Ignition, Flowmaster American Thunder 3\", 160 Degree Hypertech Thermostat, SLP Fan Switch, 3\" High Flow Cat
My car on Cardomain

Once upon a time I installed my IAC sensor on the TB wrong and my idle was at 3K because it was holding the blade open. I second the idea of checking the IAC sensor, especially if you have had it off working on/replacing the TB.Michael Huff
92 RS, 98 V6, 97 SS, 00 Z28
http://www.carolinafbodyclub.com/

Actually no at the time I had just put the cam in and had half the car apart and back together so when I first turned the key I was like oh great what did I screw up. lol Even with assembly lube on the journals 3K was not my idea of a nice cam break in period. doh!Michael Huff
92 RS, 98 V6, 97 SS, 00 Z28
http://www.carolinafbodyclub.com/

Hey before you go out and spend money do this. Unhook your negative battery post and leave it off for about 10 minutes (why ten minutes you ask I dunno but just do it) it may take care of it. I've done this before when my car was idling at 2k and it worked for me hope you have the same luck.

If the IAC is sticking you can try cleaning it before replacing it. Just take it out and spray it down good with some throttle body or carb cleaner.-Travis
99 Trans Am, Pewter, A4 Forged, stalled, and cammed
85 Buick Regal WH1 T-Type It\'d be cool if it ran...
94 Camaro 3.4, Teal, M5 The daily beater
