• getting to 13's N/A

i finally decided to set the stoping point on modding the bird. however, at my current 14.9(without headers/cat) i have substantial work ahead of me. i need it to be very streetable.

the obvious thing is heads/cam first.

heads>
p&p'd, Ls6 springs, 1.6 stock rockers, stock valves, (i know these will have to be milled)

cam>
comp cam 218/218 .528/.528 113lsa 110ic, OE"R" rollers(comp cam),

i am investing in the "3800" edit for tuning issues.

so the questions are which:
retainers: should i go titanium
pushrods: L67 hardened or lightweight

i dont want to mess with the crank/ pistons if i dont have to, but i was looking into L67 internals.

what else will i need to run this?
msd?
walbro?
any major parts i missed besides gaskets/basic install stuff?

please bring any other conflictions to my attention.

Stick with the stock pistons/rods. L67 are lower compression and heavier which will make u slower.

Everything else sounds good!

use the modified retainers and valve seals that ZZP sells. Pushrods, if you are using stock lifters get the oil restricted pushrods from intense. The cam you chose is a very nice cam. I had it in my camaro a while back. I did wonder what it would do on a 112 lsa. You might want to try that.

matt from tsp convinced me to put this cam in, i know he bought the one you had.

what would be the benefit of using the retainers and seals? would i still have to mill the heads even with the extra .050 clearance they provide?

i am going with the OE"R" rollers, i have 48,000 on my engine, and as long as im in there i think i should replace these.

i was just looking over the intense site and saw we have Manley Stainless Steel Valves available to us. is there any reason to upgrade the vavles? what about using aftermarket rockers? i know i will have to use the 1.6 ratio

with the cam, u really shouldn't have to get higher ratio rockers. Use the lightened pushrods with the OE-R lifters, that's what they're made to work with. titanium will get u a little less mass, meaning a little more power and less chance of valve float. more rpm's will help ya get into the 13's, if the motor is designed to work at higher rpm's. if an A4, TC is a must.

I'd get the stoker kit. It'll raise compression and give you a slightly bigger engine. Everything a N/A car needs

As of now there isn't a roller rocker set available for the L36, according to Intense they have got Harland Sharp working on one, which I would go with when ready. All of the components mentioned above will move your powerband higher, and allow more revs out of the engine and get more horsepower. You should get well into the 13's with a good verter, the engine mods and HP tuner mentioned above. I would guess mid 13's, once you get used to driving it.. :D

im not going to pay $500 for roller rockers right now, that is the harland ones, are they making non-adjustable 1.60 ratios?

Those are the rockers. I don't believe they are working on a fixed set of 1.6's
