• IAT resistor mod info..help

I have done a few searches but I cant seem to figure out where the post is where mattv6 or mustangeater8*** told about the amount of resistance for the resistor to tell the computer to advance the timing or whatever.

Im looking for every cheap mod before the 14th and Im going to try to hit the 14s in the 1/4. I just bought some dryer duct and will buy a filter tomorrow and install everything. $37.44 aint bad for a 4" cool air intake. any other cheap mods I can do to make my 1/4 a little faster. I will have two bottles of octane booster with 8 gallons of premium gas.

i am a mile away from radio shack so I need to know what resistance of a resistor I should get. I know they are a minimal hp booster but its cheap.

hehe took me down memory lane...

found a post from before I had the record

    Some decent info there...

I did some searching too but the thread where me and someone else were talking about different readings and the other person was autotapping it to get exact readings with each resistor and what temp it thought it was reading and the a/f ratio and timing advanceing...

that was a good thread too but I couldn't find it I gave up after 10 min of searching.

I have a 5.6 k resistor in right now, waiting to test it out.

should I reset my computer before I drive it with the resistor in

That was my thread. I searched and I can't find it. I posted it in the intake/exhaust section. It was called "systematic study of the infamous IAT resistor mod".

I don't know why it won't come up.

I don't know either... I did a search on infamous, and then searched through all the IAT ones and I coudl not find it...

I knew it was in the intake/exhaust section

IAT is your intake air temperature sensor,

IAT resistor mod is a resistor chip(radio shack wire ristor$.20 that takes the place of your existing IAT sensor. the resistance(like the real sensor would be doing) is telling your computer how cold or warm the air is coming into your engine. with the more the resistance the colder the computer will think the air is that is coming into your engine. when it is colder, your computer will increase feul output alittle bit and advance your timing a few degrees. this will give you about 2 horsepower. I am using a 5.6 k resistor from radio shack and am not sure if it gave me any more power. I recently put in a cool air intake and dont feel like putting my old IAT sensor from my intake into my new one so I got the little resistor. this resistor modification works best with high octane feul. i just barely noticed the 2 hp, when I put it on a year ago, but for $.20 for 2 hp you can't beat that. do a search and you will find alot more information about this stuff. hope i cleared things up for you and explained everything correctly.

guys add to this if it needs, thanks
