  • Annoying sound when starting

My firebird always starts quickly and strong, but every so often I can hear a sharp click as she starts. Its an 01 firebird and as of this moment, bone stock. She has 35k miles but I have no idea how long its been since its had any kind of maintenance on it since I purchased it recently. I have noticed no performance problems or anything of that sort, and it doesn't happen every time either. Every 2 or 3 startups I'd say. Could it be something as simple as fouled plugs?

Sharp click as in the starter isn't lining up correctly ?? or is it after you let off the key ??

Perhaps the sound of the A/C clutch?

Its in those few seconds that you hold the key forward and the engine just starts to turn.

sounds like your starter isn't lined up to the flywheel properly, check to see if your starter is tight (2 bolts).
